Ruqayyah Boyer was contacted by the Miss International Committee to participate in the pageant and after realising that Guyana has never been represented on that stage, she agreed almost immediately. 

“I wasn’t going to do another beauty pageant contest after Miss World, but I was asked to consider and I did, but I figured if I were going to do this again… I will need a different approach, hence the training for the first time.”
